A Yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder with a vanity license plate reading "BAIT" is sure to attract attention. "From whom, Josh?!?! From whom?!?!"... I thought you'd never ask. Behold, the "Countdown of People Who are Magnetically Attracted to Yellow Lambo Bait" :

Honorable Mention: Anyone who wears Ed Hardy, Affliction, or Tapout clothing and is not a professional mixed martial artist. If that's you, don't get offended. Try actually learning MMA. (I know. That IS a crazy idea.)

3) Shine Blockers: Shine Blockers are those people who constantly find some small flaw to point out on an otherwise perfect vehicle. You know, the guy who just has to notify everyone that his Prius gets better gas mileage than the Lamborghini. Uh, yeah, we all knew that dude. Memo to "Mr. Greenpeace", your Prius can't go from 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds, so please, be silent.

2) Valet Parking Attendants: When a car of this magnitude pulls up, valet parking attendants appear almost instantly. These guys will sneak up on a Lambo as if they were Delta Force operators on a clandestine mission targeting supercars.

Why do valets go 'special ops' and lock in on Lambos? Because "Yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder Driver Guy" is also "I Want My Car Parked Up Front So Everyone Can See Me Guy". All of this means Lambo Driver will probably tip fairly well and valets live for tips the way school kids live for snow days.

1) People with eyes. (That's right, you'd be crazy to see this car and not follow it like a divining rod.)

Let's face it, Texas is the greatest state in the union. We can all agree on that. So it only makes sense that drivers of vehicles from other states would select vanity license plates that honor Texas.

Audi drivers from the mountain west seem to really embrace this way of honoring Texas' superiority.  (^_^)

Exhibit A: A white Audi Q5 3.2L with vanity plates reading "LUVTEXS". Thank you unknown Arizona driver, for your support of all things Texan.

Exhibit B: This car may have a plate from Montana, but its owner clearly has his priorities straight. He opted to go with a personalized plate that reads "1 TRU TXN".

Well done good sir. You are clearly a person with excellent taste. You probably own many leather-bound books and reside in an apartment that smells of rich mahogany.

In this edition of Great Plates, we go all black everything! Enjoy these Texas Vanity License Plates.

Black Chevy Tahoe: The plates read "8LKOUT" (Blackout) for a reason. This truck is black from the bow tie, to the rims, to the tail lights.
Picture
Picture
Black Ford Mustang GT - The plates say it all, "LVNFIT" (Living Fit), and are perfect for a convertible with the top down.

Black Cadillac Escalade - "T CLASSY" (Too Classy) - With it's low key styling and attention getting (yet not gaudy rims) the owner of this Escalade has every right to claim the status on his vanity plate.

Black Chevy Camaro SS - Plates "CCOD" (See Cod?) - I'm going to be straightforward with you, I have no idea what "CCOD" stands for. So, because I can do such things, I decided it means "See Cod?". The answer is absolutely!  (If you eat fishsticks or are a seal.)

Here is another edition of "Great Plates" with 2 very rare supercars thrown into the mix. Enjoy the rare exotic cars and check out the creativity of the vanity license plates in this edition!.. Which school wins in this competition of sports cars with custom license plates? UT or Texas A&M? Leave a comment! Thanks!

Special thanks to friend of the site Javier A. Ortiz for the excellent photos.

Burnt Orange C6 Corvette - This C6 Corvette is representing the University of Texas in a major way! Both the color and the plate are spot on. "I Love Texas" indeed!

Red Lotus Esprit V8 - The Lotus Esprit V8 is a special version of the Lotus Esprit supercar. Early Esprits were V6's, but later editions, like the car featured here, had a V8 powerplant. This one is supporting Texas A&M. The vanity plate is great because it explains how the owner got the car, he "Worked For It"!  (Good news for you Lotus fans. Lotus stopped producing the Esprit in 2004, but the firm plans to reintroduce the car in 2013.)

Finally, this beautiful and incredibly rare Yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera was spotted out and about tearing up the streets! The Gallardo Superleggera was produced from 2007 to 2008 with only 172 of the cars being built. Of these cars 45 were made in yellow.

The Superleggera is a lightweight version of the Gallardo (leggera = "lightweight" in Italian). It weighs 220 pounds less than the base car and produces 10 more horsepower than the standard Gallardo, thus providing incresed performace over the stock Gallardo. (Notably, in 2010 Lamborghini announced it is bringing back the Gallardo Superleggera.)

The gentleman who pushes this Blue Jaguar S-Type 3.0 around town graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1968. Who would have guessed?

What do you do when you live in Texas, but love the University of Florida Gators? Apparently, you put it on your license plates. All over your license plates. "UF GIRL" has done just that with not1, not 2, but 3 references to the Gator Nation on her Texas vanity tag. Something about this is not right. Why is the state of Texas selling vanity plates for out of state colleges?

In response to yesterday's post, " Great Plates: Tesla, Corvette Z06, BMW 760 LI  ",  Doug writes: "

"THEZ06" is fantastic and hip. This dude is rockin out a sweet ride. My thought is this: if you want a car's paint job to stand out and be eye-catching, then why go with standard colors like black and yellow? I just envision a color thats more hip and ostentatious like purple. Your thoughts....

Here are my thoughts: Doug, I agree with your comments regarding the fantastic and hip nature of "THE Z06".

As for the color selection, I have some thoughts. Going with a 2 tone color scheme really enhances the "look at me" factor. So, even though black and yellow are standard colors, combining them makes the paint job fairly unique and causes the Corvette to stand out.

I like your suggestion about opting for an ostentatious color in order to be even more eye-catching. There is a pink Lamborghini Gallardo that gets LOTS of attention simply because it is painted in such a unique color. I have found that exotic cars from the Middle East often have extreme customization in both color and accessories (such as wild body kits). So, please know that people in the exotic car culture are out there pushing the limits of car customization.

Happy Saturday! Your fearless blogger is back with another installment of "Great Plates" (awesome vanity plates on awesome cars). Take a look:

The vanity plates on this Red Tesla electric exotic car remind everyone how "green" it is. (Reader submitted photo.)

This black and yellow Corvette Z06 with bold vanity plates screams, "Look at me!". Corvette drivers are known for having outlandish vanity plates (just ask radio and TV personality Jim Rome), so for one to claim his car is "THE Z06" means both the car and driver really have to bring it.

Very attention getting paint scheme. It's like a hornet on wheels. I approve.

Closeup of "THE Z06" vanity plate. Opting for the black Texas Star plate was a good choice because it continues the black color them of the rear of the car.

This may be the sweetest sounding BMW M3 on the road!  It even has a vanity plate to prepare you for its awesomeness. Check it out:

PS: Note the one guy in the audio who complains about the engine revving. Don't let these types get you down in life. Rev your engine! (Translation: Do not hide your greatness. Share it with the world.)

Welcome to Thursday! Take some time to enjoy a sweet Bentley Continental GT Speed. This car really stands out because it is a special edition of a Bentley Continental GT that:

1) Is the world's fastest car to seat 4 people (top speed of over 200 mph despite weighing over 5,000 lbs)

2) Takes 14 cow hides (yes 14!)  to cover the entire interior with fine leather.

3) Rockets from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds. This is almost a full second faster than the 0-60 time of the regular Bentley Continental GT.

4) Has a stellar vanity plate that you can check out in the video.

Enjoy!
