Here is another edition of "Great Plates" with 2 very rare supercars thrown into the mix. Enjoy the rare exotic cars and check out the creativity of the vanity license plates in this edition!.. Which school wins in this competition of sports cars with custom license plates? UT or Texas A&M? Leave a comment! Thanks!

Special thanks to friend of the site Javier A. Ortiz for the excellent photos.

Burnt Orange C6 Corvette - This C6 Corvette is representing the University of Texas in a major way! Both the color and the plate are spot on. "I Love Texas" indeed!

Red Lotus Esprit V8 - The Lotus Esprit V8 is a special version of the Lotus Esprit supercar. Early Esprits were V6's, but later editions, like the car featured here, had a V8 powerplant. This one is supporting Texas A&M. The vanity plate is great because it explains how the owner got the car, he "Worked For It"!  (Good news for you Lotus fans. Lotus stopped producing the Esprit in 2004, but the firm plans to reintroduce the car in 2013.)

Finally, this beautiful and incredibly rare Yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera was spotted out and about tearing up the streets! The Gallardo Superleggera was produced from 2007 to 2008 with only 172 of the cars being built. Of these cars 45 were made in yellow.

The Superleggera is a lightweight version of the Gallardo (leggera = "lightweight" in Italian). It weighs 220 pounds less than the base car and produces 10 more horsepower than the standard Gallardo, thus providing incresed performace over the stock Gallardo. (Notably, in 2010 Lamborghini announced it is bringing back the Gallardo Superleggera.)

Ok I'm definitely more of a UT Fan rather than an A&M Fan...but on coolness factor the Lotus Esprit V8 definitely takes the win on this bout!

The Gallardo Superleggera was definitely something special to see live. I was surprised to see such an awesome vehicle. I may have violated a couple of traffic laws to catch up with it =)

@Javi: I don't want to but, I have to agree with you on this one. I'm a big Texas fan, but the A&M Lotus Esprit takes the edge slightly in this competition, because it is more rare while still having a tremendously creative vanity plate.

As, soon as the owner of that burnt orange C6 Corvette steps his game up to the next level of sports car, the UT vehicle will win. (This assumes he keeps the same personalized license plate and puts it on the new ride.)

Texas FTW! (Honestly the A&M Lotus is a cooler car, but I am a UT Fan, so UT wins. Booya!)

If the dealership finance manager is aware that you are serious about saving money on the loan, and you qualify for better rates, they may be able to save you more money. Even if you reject the dealer's financing, you still have the financing that you should have previously prearranged.
